Missions

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”          (Acts 1:8)

We desire to be an Acts 1:8 church. We want to show the love of Christ here in Decorah and Northeast Iowa. We do this by reaching out and building bridges in the community.

Trunk or Treat - is an annual event that takes place on Halloween in the Fareway grocery store parking lot in downtown Decorah. This event draws between 600-800 families. We do this to provide a safe place for families to bring their kids, while at the same time showing them the love of Christ.

Midwest Bible Training Center - located in Cresco, Iowa is dedicated to helping people who struggle with life controlling problems. Every year we invite them the Sunday before Thanksgiving to share their testimonies and they join us in a thanksgiving meal.

Operation Christmas Child - Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child.  Samaritan’s Purse works with many local churches and ministry partners to deliver the shoeboxes and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ. Each November Stone Ridge participates in Operation Christmas Child. For the past several years, we have been the shoebox collection site for our area.

Angel Tree Ministry - reaches out to the children of prisoners and their families, helping to meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs through Christ. We deliver presents to the children of incarcerated parents every year in our local area.

We Back the Badge - in January we host the city and county police officers with a catered dinner at our church with entertainment. They risk their lives every day for us and we wanted to let them know we love and appreciate what they do for us!

LifeServe Blood Drive - we have opened our doors up to them on a monthly basis as a site for people to regularly donate blood.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) -  we have also opened up our doors to WIC which serves to safeguard the health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating including breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health care.

Community Vacation Bible Camp - we team up with a collection of churches in our area to provide the best possible week for kids to learn about who Jesus Christ is and what He did for them. It’s truly a great week in which the body of Christ pulls together as one for the sake of the kids!

School Milk Fund - we make a donation during the school year to the Decorah and Ossian elementary schools, for afternoon milk for children whose family cannot afford to do so for them.

Loving One By One - Randy Larson - Uganda Mission

Loving One By One is one of the top ten short-term mission experiences to go on. The trips are two weeks long and are held in January, June and July each year. Pastor Randy Larson travels to Uganda a few times during the year with this organization. There is a brand new clinic on the campus as well as an elementary school, where Randy teaches. When the school is not in session, he and other pastors use the classrooms at the school to teach Bible classes to pastors who have never been to a Bible College because they are unable to afford it. Eighty percent of the pastors in Uganda do not have a Bible education. Pastor Randy and the other pastors he travels to Uganda with, give them a free Bible education.
